People often ask me if they can see my iPhone and see what apps I have on there. I have pages of apps for a variety of things for both my work and personal life. Eventually, someone will ask me "So what are the best apps? If you had to pick 5 apps what are they?"
After having answered this question many times, I thought I'd create a post here and point out to my readers what the best apps are for me. Again, the emphasis is on me. The beauty of the iPhone is that with 100,000+ apps, it is highly customizable. Everyone will have their own top 5 apps I'm sure. For my 5 apps, I didn't consider into the mix the standard critical apps that come with the iPhone: email, phone, calendaring. Those are apps that I open and close hundreds of times a day. I wanted to focus on apps that I've added. To find out what my top 5 apps are, keep reading.
1) Evernote
Evernote is a great desktop tool that is made infinitely better by having the companion app on my iPhone. Evernote in a nutshell allows me to capture all that unstructured information in my day whether it is text, audio or a picture of something. With the iPhone app I can easily capture these things as I encounter them in my day. The beauty of the iPhone app is that the interface is gorgeous - just great to use. Anything I capture is synchronized with the cloud-service. Anything I capture on my iPhone is available on my computer. Anything I capture on my capture via the Evernote client is available on my iPhone. It is a brilliant application that I'd highly recommend. To get more info on Evernote, check out their site.
2) Tweetie 2
I have a variety of apps that I use on my iPhone for staying in touch with the Twitter stream and posting throughout my day. My favourite of these apps is Tweetie2. Everything about the app is fantastic - the GUI, the functionality, the speed of it. It all just works well. To access their site, click here.
3) Newsstand
I'm a voracious reader and have a lot of blogs and publications that I read and so a good RSS reader for my iPhone was critical. For me Newsstand does the perfect job. It allows me to add all the RSS feeds I like, it does a great job of pulling the info in, updating the feeds and allowing me to read the feeds easily. What I like best is the easy functions built in to Tweet things I've read, share them via email. It works seamlessly. This app gets opened a dozen times a day for me. To access their site for more information, click here.
4) Outpost
This is a fairly specialized iPhone application. It only works if you have a Basecamp account. I've written previously about Basecamp, which is from 37Signals, but in a nutshell, it is a cloudbased project collaboration / management tool. I use that extensively. It only makes sense then that a tool i use often would find a place on my iPhone. Enter Outpost. Outpost interfaces with my Basecamp account and allows me to track and update projects that I've got in there. I can see messages that people post as part of collaborating on projects, I can see my To Dos and manage them from my iPhone. To get more info, check out their site by clicking here.
5) Pocket Informant
If there is anywhere the iPhone is lacking it is in the calendaring features and more specifically with integrating To Dos. The app I use to overcome this is Pocket Informant. It does a great job syncing with my calendar online (we use GMail as the backend), which then syncs with my local calendar app on my iPhone. Whether I put an appointment in the default iPhone calendar app or Pocket Informant, they both stay in sync. Pocket Informant offers me a great To Do function that allows me to leverage the GTD (Getting Things Done) approach that I have used for years. To get more info, check out their site here.
So there you have it - my top 5 iPhone apps. I hope that you might have found a newly discovered gem amongst my list. I would love to hear about what you consider your top 5 iPhone apps. Feel free to join the conversation and comment below.

The best iphone app for 2010 so far for me is FastMall by MindSmack.com. Turn by turn guidance at the mall, find the bathroom quick and be taken to it, get deals, remember where you park, check in at the mall and stores, full community of features. So much fun :) http://www.FastMall.com

Lots of specialists claim that home loans help people to live the way they want, just because they are able to feel free to buy necessary things. Furthermore, various banks offer collateral loan for different persons.
