It's just amazing how many pies Google is trying to put its finger in. A story I've been trying to follow for a bit is about San Francisco trying to build a wi-fi blanket over the city so that anyone withing its limits would have access to free wireless access. Sounds like a great idea to me... who is the front runner?

    Google!

Don't ask me how they can make it profitable though...

But of course the wifi-blanket is google -- naturlich! as they say in German -- a Cube-station node without access to the Global Google HyperCube is like an ant cut off from the colony, lost, bumbling and without purpose.

But dig, if your Treo/PSP only needs a wifi signal to get you hooked up and into every last shred of your personal computing space? Now how cool is that? Well worth the price of admission I'd say.

Well, it seems the rumor was denied by Google!
